Dendrochilum wenzelii 'Fishing Creek' (Fall Blooming)

This ever-popular "Chain Orchid" or Dendrochilum is one of the exceptions to the perception that Dendrochilums are not bright colored. This species bears bright rusty-red flowers which make for a striking contrast against the emerald green quill-like foliage.

This form of the species is quite special - while the flowers are what one would expect, the time of bloom is not - All other Dendrocilum wenzelii that I know of are spring bloomers but this one reliable blooms in the fall. If you like the species but want more than once a year -then add this one to your collection so you can enjoy it twice a year!
