Dendrobium Illusion 'Embers'

Dendrobium Illusion is a primary hybrid between Dendrobium cuthbertsonii and Dendrobium lawesii. D. cuthbertonii is very dominant in it's hybrid offspring and to find that these stay rather small is no suprise. The mature plants seldom exceed 4" tall and the growth habit is of a desireable clumpy, not trailing habit. It is a more easily grown plant than D. cuthbertsonii itself although it still prefers temps a bit on the cooler side.

'Embers' is a nice vibrant color or red-orange with paler orange petals giving a nice two-toned color effect.

Note: In recent years past I've offered and sold divisions of D. Illusion labelled only as "Red - Orange Form", or "Red Type". All those were propagated from divisions of just 3 unnamed clones. The best of those 3 I've now named 'Embers" as I've decided it is worthy of distinction. Therefore, if you've purchased any of these in the past years and yours has bloomed out and resembles the two-tone color as shown here, it is most likely safe to add the name clonal 'Embers' to your label.

These are potted/established in small clay pots.
