Mountain Orchids

Dendrobium eximium

Dendrobium eximium is an exotic and spectacular example of the section Lautoria Densdrobiums.  In fact, its now the only  one I grow.  It gets good sized (though not as large as some species in this section), but this is one I still make space for.

The mature plant of this species is upawrds of 20"+ tall .  Cylidrical pseudobulbs bear 2-3 dark geen leaves at their apex. The flowers, however, are the attention-getter here.  They have a nice contrast in colors, a large and showy size, and the sepal exteriors of which bear a coarse (though soft-to-the-touch) coating of bristles!  So - color, texture, size & contrast - this species nearly has it all!

The plant being offered here are near-mature, established division-grown plants,  growing in 4" basket.
