This Corytoplectus species may be grown as a greenhouse or humid houseplant, or as an outdoor tropical perennial. Corytoplectus speciosus is a Gensneriad, develops from a rhizomatous and spreading root structure. The foliage of this Gesneriad is attractively colored in green and silver. The bright yellow bell-like flowers are held in orange-red calyces (cupped bracts). After flowering, the seed fruits are a stunning glossy purple-green and are incredibly stunning.
This plant does well in warm to intermediate temps and prefers either humid greenhouse or even terrarium culture. Be sure to use a free-draining peaty type potting mix. It seems to prefer warmth and does best if kept above 60F.
