Begonia masoniana is also known as the "Iron Cross Begonia". "Tricolor" is a form of it that varies only slightly from the normal form. some say that it is easier to grow- However, i've not been growing it long enough to judge it from that aspect.
Like it's brother, It is a compact clumping rhizomatous Begonia that makes a terrific Orchid companion plant and does exceedingly well in greeenhouses or in larger sized terrariums.
Iron Cross Begonias (Begonia masoniana forms) prefer filtered or bright diffuse light. They do not like being overly wet and probably do best when allowed to nearly dry out before being watered. Cold chills are typically not to their liking although I have found them somewhat tolerant of coolish nights (55F) if one is very careful that they are not wet during that time and they are exposed to it gradually.
The Begonia offered here are very young but strong, cutting-grown plants, currently in 2" pots.
