Dendrobium Mountain's Twilight Stars is a cute little primary hybrid between (D. victoria-reginae 'Mtn's Midnight' FCC/AOS X D. cyanocentrum).
The original cross produced very few viable progeny. Of those that grew, a couple proved to be keepers! The end result is somewhat variable but generally favors a plant habit quite intermediate between the parents. Flowers were in blue shades with some striped and others not. A few plants favored the growth habit of cyanocentrum but those have also proved to be fairly poor growers/bloomers. The best of them have been those with the intermediate-type growth habit and they have proven to be quite strong and reliable in bloom.
The D. victoria-reginae imparts vigor and warmth tolerance ...along with imparting a larger flower size and reinforcing blue flower tendencies. Flowers last for quite some time. Fortunately, the hybrid is much easier to grow than D. cyanocentrum itself! That being said, however, this is not a plant for a beginner - it is still a miniature and a fairly slow grower. it is also a plant for humid settings, not a windowsill.
The cultivar, 'Twinkle' is a dark and yet striped selection which typically bears two flowers per cluster/node of this otherwise variably-colored, cross.
The plant being offered here is a mature, established division, growing in a 1 1/2" clay or net pot.
