This gorgeous African semi-terrestrial species is a stunning yet very amenable plant to cultivate. It bears ten to thirty 1 1/2” dia fragrant flowers on each upright stem in summer. During the dry season (winter), it does lose its leaves completely. I typically withold most water but the plant is not overly parched (I never let the pot go dusty-dry) and it stored in a 60% humidity location, but just not watered. Light during rest does not matter as it is leafless. I also typically repot into fresh new mix some point during the tail-end of its rest. This gives me a chance to clean away any dead material as well as sepearate the rhizomes and, on rare occasions such as this, part with one!
This plant was shared with me by a very generous friend, Lou Tempera, after whom I credited my piece. This is not a plant i have been able to propagate in qty. As such, i only get a piece or two each season to offer.
The plant being offered here is a mature, Blooming Size division (tuber). It is IN BLOOM.
