Begonia "U606"

Another of the many intriguing but still unidentified species that are in cultivation. This one is rhizomatous and from the Philippines. It bears attractive "smoky purplish-grey-green, decidedly felt-y foliage with contrasting veins.

This species performs well as a terrarium plant or in a humid greenhouse. Although I've not tried it, this species may even tolerate non-greenhouse "open-air" conditions if not overly dry (humid summer months).

These are husky cutting-grown plants, currently in 2-3" pots.
