Begonia sutherlandii

Begonia sutherlandii is a tuberous perennial plant with fleshy pink stems. Leaves are commonly veined with red and are toothed. Flowers, produced in massive abundance, are up to an inch in diameter, and are a very attractive clear orange with yellow anthers.

The species is common throughout the Southern Highlands of Tanzania - often found cascading over rocks or hanging from trees in damp shady locations.  This tuberous species also prefers a dry winter rest.

Many claim this species is winter hardy to Zone 6B - I've not tried it so I cannot say.

Offered here are 3" pots, recently sprouted (late May).
