This variation of Begonia pavonina was grown from imported seed and it seems to stay much more compact and shorter in stature as compared to the more commonly grown "purple form". Like the other, it bears foliage with a distinct purple tinge overall. It still exhibits a similar iridescence as for the species but it simply makes for a nice variation.Begonia pavonina is a truly stunning Malaysian species but it needs to be grown correctly to really have it strut it's stuff! With the right nutrition, temperature, and light levels the foliage can be amazingly reflective iridescent - just like a Morpho Butterfly!
