Begonia pavonina is a truly stunning Malaysian species but it needs to be grown correctly to really have it strut it's stuff! With the right nutrition, temperature, and light levels the foliage can be amazing - iridescent blue - just like a Blue Morpho Butterfly!
Note: Best blue color seems to develop when the plants are grown fairly shady, humid, well fed & somewhat cool. It seems to grow okay warmer but the leaf color is better when on the cool side. How Cool is too cool? I don't know but I can say that I grow this species as a mature plant with 50-52F nights in the winter and it does just fine.
Sturdy plants in 2 1/2 - 3" pots.
