Begonia acerifolia (Maple-leaved Begonia) is a wonderful species from Ecuador & Peru and occurs at elevations of 1600 - 3000m. It is NOT a terrarium-type species and can be a bit of a challenge to grow well. It seems to prefer a fairly decent amount of light, and to not be too wet. It also may prefer to not be too hot.
This form of the species produces exceedingly showy palmate leaves dramatically marked in silvery white! New foliage often emerges tinted a purple tone.
Does not grow reliably from leaf cuttings. These are nicely developed, strongly patterned, seed-grown plants in 2 1/2" pots.
