Begonia "U614"

Begonia
Begonia 'U614'

Begonia 'U614' is a species from Bhutan, NE India, and Nepal that offers a very attractive serrated / dissected foliage with variations of silver and green over dark green & red tinted veins.  It can top out at around 20” tall.

Some reports suggest that it can tolerate winters into the low 30’s (F) with careful sighting and mulching (Zone 6-7) - however, I have not tested this and treat mine as an indoor plant as our winters here get far too cold.  I've also heard that some growers feel this species is a cool-weather plant (resents heat), which may or may not be true;  more testing & feedback is needed before I voice an option one way or another.

These are young but husky plants, currently in 2 1/2 - 3" pots.
