Miltonia spectabilis ('Mountainside' X self)

Most people are more familiar with the Brazilian beauty, Miltonia spectabilis, by its more commonly grown all-purple form: "var. moreliana". However, I've been enamored with this one as 'Mountainside' bears exceedingly large, full formed, and flat flowers of the palest pink-white and a broad rose veined lip. It's nice to be different and this very fine example is well worth being grown!

Miltonia spectabilis is an easy-to-grow plant. It prefers medium-bright light and to dry briefly between watering. It may be grown as a potted windowsill plant (preferably shallow pots), in a basket, or even on mounts for a more naturalized look. Miltonia spectabilis is a very adaptable and productive species.
