I really like Epicatts and this cross has seemed like a "natural" for years. Finally am getting around to making it. Unlike many epicatts which seem stuck in either orange or green shades, this cross should be blessed with broad pink-lipped red-burgundy blooms on compact and easy to bloom plants. A Flask of Laelia pumila var. alba F2 ('Mtn Snowstorm' X 'Whiteout')

Dendrochilum formosanum 'Mountainside'

From clumps of soft green, 4" foliage come long arching sprays of 1/2 in. chartreuse flowers with dark lips. Sounds like the description for many of the Dendrochilums, but this one is a stunner when in bloom for the flower sprays are large in proportion of the small 5 in. foliage (some very minor leaf blemishes may be present). Lepanthes cascajalensis

Miltonia spectabilis 'Mountainside'

Most people are more familiar with this Brazilian beauty by its more commonly grown all-purple form. However, I've been enamored with this one as 'Mountainside' bears exceedingly large, full-formed and flat flowers of the palest pink-white with a broad rose-veined lip. Very Fine. In Bud Now! Easy. Pleurothallis hirtzii

This one is a monster. Broad 12 in. diameter leaves on stems up to 36 in. tall and bearing clusters of 2 in. dark red blooms. Flowers are delivered freely with numerous simultaneous open flowers per leaf. What's more, the leaves re-bloom successively over a long period of time - making for a bigger and bigger show as the plant grows. This one loves lots of water and good humidity. I grow it in large wood baskets (not hanging) but with sphagnum moss as a growing medium (retains the desired moisture).
